The Church Kneelers
This is one of the kneelers
There are many beautifully embroidered kneelers worked by members of St. Mary’s Guild. The general theme is ‘The Countryside’, interpreted in terms of birds, animals, flowers, sports and buildings. Each kneeler has a rose emblem worked in one corner and many are dedicated to the memory of deceased loved ones; at the back of the church is a book recording the dedications and the names of the embroiderers. Visitors are recommended to make time to examine the kneelers in detail, not only as poignant memorials, but as fine works of art, each representing hundreds of hours of devoted craftsmanship.
